Headquartered in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Bun Cha Ta proudly brings the authentic taste of Northern Vietnam to both Hanoi and Hoi An Ancient Town.

Bún chả is one of Vietnam’s most iconic dishes, believed to have originated in Hanoi. This traditional specialty features charcoal-grilled pork (chả), including both tender sliced pork belly and flavorful minced pork patties, served with fresh rice vermicelli (bún), aromatic herbs, and a perfectly balanced dipping sauce. The harmony of smoky grilled meat, light noodles, and fragrant greens creates a dish that is simple, fresh, and unforgettable.

The dish was famously described in 1959 by Vietnamese food writer Vũ Bằng (1913–1984), who portrayed Hanoi as a city “transfixed by bún chả,” reflecting its deep cultural roots in the capital’s culinary identity.

Bun Cha Ta began its journey on Gia Ngư Street in Hoàn Kiếm District, in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Today, our headquarters is located at 21 Nguyễn Hữu Huân Street, Hanoi Old Quarter, and we are proud to have expanded to 197 Nguyễn Duy Hiệu Street in Hoi An Ancient Town, Quảng Nam Province — bringing the true taste of Hanoi to Central Vietnam.

Bún chả remains one of the most popular dishes in Northern Vietnam and is consistently recommended among the top ten must-try street foods in Hanoi. While Southern Vietnam offers a similar dish known as bún thịt nướng, the flavor profile and dipping sauce of Hanoi-style bún chả are distinctly different, carrying the authentic spirit of the capital.
